You decide how gambling fits into your life, and this page is meant to help you keep it in the place you chose. It sets out some practical habits, explains why each one works, and states plainly what this site can and cannot do for you.
Set your amount before you start
Choose a sum before the first bet and treat it as already spent, like the price of a cinema ticket. A limit set in advance is made with a clear head. A limit set mid-session is made by someone who is winning and feels lucky, or losing and wants it back, and neither of those moods is a good judge of money. If you think of the amount as gone, the result of the session cannot upset your rent, food or bills.
Never chase a loss
Each outcome is independent of the last, so a run of losses does not make a win any more likely. Raising stakes to recover money only increases the amount at risk while you are least able to think calmly. When your amount is used up, stop and accept the loss as the cost of the entertainment.
Keep borrowed money out of it
Gamble only with money you can spare, and never with credit, loans or money set aside for someone else. Borrowed money carries a repayment that does not shrink when you lose, so a bad night can turn into debt that lasts for months.
Take breaks and bring someone in early
Step away at regular intervals, because time passes quickly and short breaks help you notice how long you have played and how much you have spent. If gambling stops feeling like entertainment, or you hide it, lie about it or feel anxious when you are not playing, tell someone you trust. Talking early, before the problem grows, makes it much easier to change course.
Help links to six independent gambling-help organisations appear in the help links block on this page, as on every page of the site: BeGambleAware, Gamble Aware, Gambling Therapy, G GamCare Gambling Support: Starts Here, GAM STOP and NCPG. These are the only non-commercial outbound links on the site. Unlike the operator links, they carry no sponsored marking, are set to nofollow, and open in a separate tab on the organisations' own websites. This site receives nothing when you follow them.
This site cannot act on your behalf
The eighteen-and-over restriction is repeated throughout this site, including on the front page. However, nobody's age is verified here and no gambling takes place here. Any age check happens at the destination you visit.
Any spending cap, loss cap, session reminder, pause or exclusion you want is something you arrange inside your own account at the destination. This site has no account, no form and no server-side application, so nothing published here can switch such a setting on, check it or enforce it.
No advertising or behavioural profiling network is present in these pages, so nothing here is targeted at you because of how you have behaved.
